The Magicians is a modern, snarky twist on the fantasy genre and a love letter to the genre at the same time.
The season 2 key art sees The White Lady engulfed in a swarm of golden moths — the familiar markers of The Beast. Fillorian creatures aren’t as whimsical as they might appear. The White Lady is the core element of the campaign visual identity, supplement with wide range of additional visual that build on top of the core theme.
Through these relatable themes and recognizable fantasy tropes, it becomes all too clear that FANTASY JUST GOT REAL.
Creatively we have set off from day one to approach this as true 360 campaign. We have partner with And Company once we have lock the direction we want. They have been terrific partner from ideation to execution, along with the internal team guidance and support. This has been the most cohesive marketing campaign I have worked on by far.
This is a concept shoot spot focus on each main character's struggle and back story. We have shot them as individual vignette but able to stitch them together as one cohesive spot as well.
All cast were shot on blue screen with custom foreground elements as physical build. With clever use of visual effect, the result bring the viewer into the fantasy world of Fillory.

These character portraits are created to support the main campaign in digital, social media and signage in marketing promotional event of the show.
Tutting stars PNUT, CTUT, Nemesis and Strobe - along with The Magicians cast - take turns tutting and spell-casting to the song "Powerful" by Major Lazer featuring Ellie Goulding.
In creating the show magical language, the producers wanted the flavor of each spell to vary between characters and reflect their backgrounds and magic level. In turn, the actors translated the difficulty and frustration in mastering tutting moves into their characters’ attempts at mastering spells. (Tutting, a hip-hop dance of angular movements through hand and arm popping, has origins in 1970s funk dance.)
